| If you were driving by Wayne Tower Senior Apartments, you might not think anything of the non-descript retirement community. However, if you are tasked with re-roofing this 11 story behemoth, you might have a different opinion. Luckily, we had a partner in Industrial Roofing Services, a roof consultant out of Wisconsin. IRS designed an energy-efficient system that would hold up the strong winds that can occur at this height. This included having us design a custom “pull test” to ensure the new vapor barrier had good adhesion to the roof deck.
The project included the removal of the existing roof, fastening of new 5.2” rigid insulation and installation of new Firestone EPDM Membrane. To accomplish this, we set-up a 110’ debris chute, employed the help of a massive crane and worked with T-Mobile to coordinate the removal and replacement of their rooftop equipment. Any high-rise building presents multiple challenges, but our crew was able to complete this project on time and on budget with minimal disruption to the tenants |
