System Type: Slate with Copper Details

The redevelopment of Detroit has been a wonderful thing to behold. At Bruttell Roofing, we have been lucky enough to be part of several interesting restoration projects in the city, one of them being the Stewart residence.

When it was decided that the roof needed to be replaced, the owner could have gone with a heavy-weight dimensional asphalt shingle, which would have looked fine. However, they decided that an investment in the world’s finest steep slope roofing material, VermontSlate, was the path to take. As you can see from the photos, it was a great decision.

The 4-color design pattern, along with some clipped corners, gives the roof a unique and substantial look that you just cannot get using any other product. The roof is finished with custom fabricated 16 oz.copper edging and fascia as well as new 5” half-round copper gutters. The end result is a gorgeous roof system that will be keeping out the weather for the better part of the next century.
